Where to Buy? Taruto Merchandise

Since Taruto's US release, Taruto DVDs and merchandise have become easier to find online and in stores. There are plenty of places to buy Taruto merchandise now, so I've compiled a little list of the best I've found!

I am in no way affiliated with any of the sites listed here, and of course, you don't have to buy from them. But if you're looking for something Taruto, any of the following might be a good place to start your collection!

eBay

One of the best places to find Taruto merchandise is eBay. I check eBay for Taruto goods at least once every week, and you can get some great deals on new and used Taruto DVDs, figures, posters and pencil boards.

While there are some shady dealers on eBay, the majority of goods up for sale are legitimate. The only bootleg goods I've seen up in a long time are fake boxsets, which more often than not are more expensive than the official boxsets!

The only downside to eBay is that items can be listed as Auctions rather than Buy It Now, which means you can end up in bidding wars against other people. If you're careful with what you're buying, eBay can be a great way to get things cheap. :)

RightStuf

For Taruto DVDs, aside from Amazon, Rightstuf is probably the best place to buy them! Everything RightStuf stocks is official, and every few months they have great sales on all DVDs. And even when they don't have sales on, their prices are one of the cheapest!

Amazon

A highly reliable site to buy Taruto from is Amazon. Buying direct from Amazon, you're guaranteed an official copy of whatever you're buying, as well as reliable service if anything goes wrong.

Amazon, however, only really has the DVDs available for sale. Because nothing aside from the DVDs is official licensed in the USA, Amazon stocks little else than the DVDs or what users list from time to time. If you're looking for the DVDs Amazon is excellent - anything else, it's not so good.

Yahoo! Shopping

Yahoo! Shopping is one of the places I'm wary of, but they do stock some decent merchandise from time to time. The majority of products they stock are the official DVDs, as well as figures, AP cards & pencil boards.

Unfortunately Yahoo! Shopping is where I've found the most fake goods for sale - mainly DVD boxsets. I'd be careful when looking through their listings that you don't buy something fake - any DVD boxsets that aren't licensed by Bandai is a fake.
Watch out for CDs, too - anything listed as being produced by "EverAnime", "Anime Studio", "SM Records" or anything else other than "Lantis" is a fake.

When buying anything from Yahoo! Shopping, be careful. If need be, look around to validate whatever you're looking to buy before buying.

CDJapan

CDJapan is hands-down the best place to buy Japanese Taruto CDs and DVDs. Everything they stock is the official Japanese release, and they are one of the most reliable Japanese sites to buy from.

Unfortunately, CDJapan comes with a very large pricetag. All CDs and DVDs are at full retail price; buying all of the CDs totals around $100, and buying all of the DVDs totals almost $300! Keeping in mind the Japanese DVDs are Japanese only and come with no subtitles whatsoever, $300 for a series you can buy for around $40 in a set with both English and Japanese versions with subtitles is a lot to pay out for any fan.

If you have the money to, CDJapan is an excellent site. But I'd highly recommend looking around elsewhere before ordering to see if you can save money!

Yahoo!Japan

Finally, if you're looking for rarer goods, there are Yahoo!Japan Auctions. With the help of a third-party service, you can buy items direct from Japan with additional fees.

Personally, the majority of my collection has come from Yahoo! Japan - some things I've seen for sale I've never, ever seen anywhere else. While Yahoo! Japan and whatever third-party service you use is expensive (I've spent over $800 on merchandise before - with over $200 of that on services alone!), for a collector, Yahoo! is the best place to find any Taruto merchandise.

Do be aware though - Yahoo! Japan is effectively a Japanese equivalent of eBay. You can and will get into bidding wars with other buyers, and prices can rise phenomenally.
Only use Yahoo! Japan if you are willing to spend a lot of money to get what you want, especially when using a third-party company - what you are paying for your item is not the final cost and can be highly misleading. Some companies can pile on an additional $40 charge, excluding internal shipping and base commission.

Be careful when using Yahoo! Japan.. it's expensive, but it's worth it :)
